Goldricks Goodies

A one-woman bakery selling cakes that are made to order, on a shop built around lead times, collection days and flavour choices rather than a generic checkout.

Logicode Digital designed and built the Goldricks Goodies online shop for a home bakery in Kilnaleck, Co. Cavan. Rather than a standard store, it is built around how baking works: a three-day lead time, no collections on Sundays or Mondays, a collection date and time chosen per item, and flavour lists the baker edits herself. It scores 100 on Google Lighthouse on desktop and 99 on mobile.

The brief

Áine bakes to order from her own kitchen, and that makes a normal online shop the wrong shape. A cake needs notice, so orders cannot be for tomorrow. The kitchen is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so those dates cannot be picked. A box of twelve cupcakes takes two sponges and two fillings while a box of six takes one of each, so the options have to change with the size. Some things can be posted and some can only be collected. Every one of those rules used to live in her head and in messages, and every order meant a conversation.

What we did

We built the rules into the shop. Customers pick a collection date on the product page, with the lead time enforced and closed days greyed out, then a time slot that changes depending on the day of the week. An order can hold several items on different dates. Postage only appears when everything in the basket can actually be posted, and the checkout will not let anyone pay until every item has a date and a slot. Áine manages her own flavour lists, blocks off holidays, pauses postal orders, and edits the homepage copy, all without ringing us.

Security

Built to stay locked down.

Every site we build is audited before launch and hardened as standard. Here is what that means in practice for this one.

  • Card details are handled entirely by the payment provider and never reach the website
  • Payments are confirmed by a signed message from the payment provider, so an order cannot be marked paid by anyone else
  • An order is only ever finalised once, even if the payment notification arrives twice
  • Every price, option and date is re-checked on the server at the moment of payment
  • The owner's account is protected by two-factor authentication at every sign-in
  • Staff accounts can never see or alter the owner's account, which is not even visible to them
  • No server files, settings or source code are reachable from the web
  • Independently audited before launch with no known vulnerabilities

Search & visibility

Built to be found.

Technical SEO is part of the build, not an upsell afterwards, so the site launches ready to rank and ready to be quoted by AI search.

  • A perfect 100 SEO score on Google Lighthouse, on mobile and desktop
  • Bakery structured data with address, opening hours and location, so the shop can appear in local results
  • Product and service structured data across the shop and the wedding and celebration pages
  • A sitemap that updates itself as products, gallery sections and posts change
  • Every photograph served in modern formats at the right size, with the hero preloaded
  • The review system is built so only real customers who actually ordered can leave one, which is both the honest way to do it and the only way the ratings can ever qualify for stars in Google

Design & brand

Styled around the business.

Maroon and baby pink on a warm cream ground, with a high-contrast serif for the headings, taken straight from Áine's own logo. Every photograph on the site is her own work rather than stock, including the gallery of 129 cakes she has actually made, laid out at their natural shape so nothing is cropped awkwardly. The tone is deliberately warm and personal, because customers are buying from a named person in a village kitchen, not a brand.
