Case study · Snail Farm & Online Shop
Inis Escargot
A working snail farm selling escargot, skincare and training courses, moved off WooCommerce onto a shop that takes payments, books course places and handles Irish VAT on its own.
Logicode Digital rebuilt Inis Escargot, Ireland's leading snail farm in Co. Cavan, replacing WordPress and WooCommerce with a custom online shop. The 2026 build added in-page Stripe checkout, online course booking with seat limits and deposits, and a built-in Irish VAT engine, and migrated the full order history and catalogue without leaving a single old address to 404.
The brief
Inis Escargot sells across four very different lines: fresh escargot, snail-mucin skincare, farm starter kits, and the training courses that teach people to farm snails themselves. All of it ran on WordPress and WooCommerce, with the checkout, the plugins and years of orders bolted together over time. Course places, a major part of what they do, could not be booked or paid for online at all, so every one went through email. The site also had genuine search rankings worth protecting, so nothing could be allowed to break in the move.
What we did
We rebuilt the shop as a custom application with the checkout built in rather than bolted on. Card payments run in-page through Stripe, course dates now sell online with seat limits, deposits and balances, and Irish VAT is worked out by the site itself rather than a plugin. Before switching over we pulled the live search data, found the old address families that were still earning traffic, and redirected every one of them. The owner runs products, orders, course dates, photography and even the homepage slideshow himself.

Security
Built to stay locked down.
Every site we build is audited before launch and hardened as standard. Here is what that means in practice for this one.
- Card details are handled entirely by the payment provider and never reach the website
- Payments are confirmed by a signed message from the payment provider, so an order cannot be marked paid by anyone else
- Every price and total is recalculated on the server at the moment of payment, so nothing can be altered in a browser
- Staff accounts are protected by two-factor authentication
- No server files, settings or source code are reachable from the web
- Encrypted connection across every page, including checkout
- Independently audited before launch with no known vulnerabilities
- Automatic off-site backups of orders and customer records
Search & visibility
Built to be found.
Technical SEO is part of the build, not an upsell afterwards, so the site launches ready to rank and ready to be quoted by AI search.
- Search Console data pulled before the move, so redirects were built from the pages that actually earn traffic rather than from guesswork
- Whole families of old addresses redirected in a single hop, including product categories, tags and the old blog
- Product, course and business structured data, so listings can show prices and availability
- A sitemap that updates itself as products, courses and news change
- Server-rendered pages that search engines and AI crawlers can read without running scripts
- A perfect 100 SEO score on Google Lighthouse, on mobile and desktop
Design & brand
Styled around the business.
The design is deliberately more Parisian than agricultural: charcoal and bone with brass accents, a high-contrast serif for the headlines and a clean sans for everything else. All the photography is from the farm itself, shot on the owner's phone and processed into one consistent set, because a real hand holding a real snail sells this business better than any stock library could. The homepage runs a slow four-slide hero the owner can reorder himself.
