Case study · Restaurant & Hospitality
The Oak Room
A much-loved Cavan restaurant moved off WordPress onto a custom-built system its own team can run, with nine years of gift vouchers carried across intact.
Logicode Digital rebuilt The Oak Room restaurant website in Cavan, replacing WordPress with a custom-coded web application. The 2026 build migrated nine years of gift vouchers, customers and order history with zero balance drift, and gives restaurant staff full control of menus, vouchers and bookings.
The brief
The Oak Room had outgrown its WordPress site. Menus were awkward to change, so they went stale. Gift vouchers ran through a plugin that nobody fully trusted, and nine years of voucher balances, real money owed to real customers, sat inside it. The restaurant wanted a site its own staff could run day to day, without a plugin bill and without ringing someone every time a dish changed.
What we did
We rebuilt the site as a custom web application and moved the data across ourselves rather than trusting an importer. Every gift voucher, customer and order was migrated and then reconciled line by line against the old system until the balances matched exactly. Staff now manage menus, vouchers, bookings, pages and photos from an admin area built for them, gift vouchers are bought and delivered automatically as branded PDFs, and every old web address still works.
Measured performance
Fast, and provably so.

Security
Built to stay locked down.
Every site we build is audited before launch and hardened as standard. Here is what that means in practice for this one.
- Two-factor authentication enforced on every staff account, with no way to skip it
- Card details are handled entirely by the payment provider and never touch the website
- Every voucher redemption is checked on the server, so balances cannot be edited from a browser
- A full audit log records every staff action, so any change can be traced
- Staff roles limit who can see and do what
- Layered spam filtering on the contact form, with no CAPTCHA and no third-party scripts
- Encrypted connection across every page, including checkout
- Automatic off-site backups of the database and uploads
Search & visibility
Built to be found.
Technical SEO is part of the build, not an upsell afterwards, so the site launches ready to rank and ready to be quoted by AI search.
- Around 25 old WordPress addresses redirected, so no ranking or bookmark was lost in the move
- One canonical domain, so search engines count a single site rather than splitting the signal
- Menus published as real text rather than PDFs or images, so every dish is searchable
- Restaurant structured data covering location, opening hours and menus
- A sitemap that adds new menus automatically as staff create them
- The find-us map is self-hosted, so no third-party cookies load before a visitor consents
Design & brand
Styled around the business.
The styling follows the room rather than a template: warm gold on near-black, a high-contrast serif for the headlines, and photography of the actual dining room lit as it looks on the night. The homepage carries a slow ember drift behind the hero, which is meant to feel like candlelight rather than a web animation. "Simple things done well" is the restaurant's own line, and the whole design is built to stay out of its way.
